Recent Photo Sessions - Jayden, Michaela, Chikita

November 14th, 2011

Since I last wrote about Eufrat, and posted her preview, I’ve had a few photo sessions.  I am very excited to tell you that I’ve photographed some new galleries of two very popular existing models on Torrid Art: Jayden Cole and Chikita.

Recent Photo Shoots - Jayden, Michaela, ChikitaJayden is a very hot and experienced model. She is very popular among Torrid Art viewers, and many others will recognize her as well. She is actually a celebrity in the world of adult entertainment, and keeps very busy doing all sorts of things for TV and radio. I couldn’t be happier to be adding some exciting, new galleries of Jayden!

Recent Photo Shoots - Jayden, Michaela, ChikitaCzech model Chikita is likewise very popular among viewers of Torrid Art. I was very happy to see Chikita again for our second photo session.  We had a famously fun time, and produced some very eritoc galleries.

Soon we will begin weaving Chikita’s and Jayden’s new galleries into the update schedule, starting with Jayden.

Recent Photo Shoots - Jayden, Michaela, ChikitaI’ve also had a session with a very exciting new model, Michaela. Michaela is not new to modeling but new to Torrid Art. She is yet another of those ravishing women of the Czech Republic, and our schedules worked out nicely during her recent visit to Los Angeles. I am very excited about introducing Michaela to the viewers of Torrid Art.

I will post previews of each of these models before their first gallery, or new gallery, goes online.

I am also looking into shooting a couple more wonderful, new models for Torrid Art in the very near future. Stay tuned!

Preview: Eufrat

September 14th, 2011

Lately I’ve been writing about the locations I use for the Torrid Art photo sessions.  And as you may have read, when I photographed Eufrat one year ago I was not too pleased with the location.  At the time, I thought I would like to have another session with her in a better location with better settings for the galleries, not that she needs to be in any particular setting to look fantastic.  ;-)

Here is a preview of my second photo session with Eufrat.  I hope you like it.

Something New in Locations

August 24th, 2011

If you are thinking about making your own erotic photos, one of the many considerations you will have is where to photograph.  You do not need to rent space or pay for a location if you are just starting and experimenting with erotic photography.  You might use your own home, a friend’s or the model’s home, or maybe you prefer a quiet, private, secluded and free outdoor location.

For Torrid Art, I usually shoot in medium to large houses.  I usually photograph each model in a different house, or location.  In the early days of Torrid Art, I re-used houses more than I do now.

Eufrat heart 225I like houses that are roomy and interesting.  I need space to set up lights.  I like some galleries to have large, spaceous backgrounds, while others have small, cramped backgrounds.  I can get small backgrounds in any house, but I need a big house for a big background.  I don’t like houses that have all white interior walls.  I like nice furniture that looks fairly new, not worn and stained.  Though old, worn, run-down and stained furniture might work well for some kinds of photography, I don’t normally use it for Torrid Art.

I’ve been quite fortunate over the last few years.  I’ve been using one location agency and they have been very good to me.  Here in Los Angeles, there is so much photography and filming going on, both adult and mainstream, that there are many location agencies - companies that rent houses and other buildings by the day for those uses (most are mainstream only).  The agency I use usually has what I want, but it depends on the timing.  Sometimes after I have a model booked, there just aren’t any houses available for that day that I like.  In those cases, I select from what’s available.

It’s true that the “girl next door” might not live in a big, affluent house with new furniture.  :-)   A model may look fantastic in that setting and photograph very well there.  I might like working in mansions, with their space and options for gallery settings.  But it also might be a little boring when every model is in a large, affluent house.

Lana window 278I have photographed in small locations before and been pleased with the results, but it’s been a long time.  I think the last really small location I used was an apartment with Sasha.  That was over four years ago.  And there have been some “medium” houses, like the house for Leanna.  But lately I have been wanting to photograph a model in a smaller, more modest house or apartment.  Working in tight spaces is challenging, but perhaps a small, modest location would add some nice variety to Torrid Art.

Well, I finally decided to give it a try.  Next week I have a photo session scheduled with a lovely model named Callie Cobra.  And I’ve scheduled a nice, small house for her photo session.  Most of the smaller houses available to me, maybe all of them, are not nice looking.  They tend to look run-down and cluttered, and the furniture usually looks cheap and heavily worn.  Again, that might work fine for some kinds of photography, and some kinds of erotic photography, but I don’t like that look for Torrid Art.  The house I have for Callie is not like that at all.  It looks nice - simple, modest and small, but very nice.

Photographing Callie in this house is somewhat of an experiment. I hope to get some very erotic photos for you of a very attractive model, and some nice variety for Torrid Art.  If the experiment works, well, maybe I will try it again!

Eufrat and my Shoot Locations

August 3rd, 2011

Thirty minutes before the model arrives for her photo session with me, my crew and I arrive and start setting up.  Part of the reason why we show up early is so that I can look around.  You see,  the moment I enter the house is the very first time I see it.  Before that, I only get to see a few photos of the house, nothing more.  And the photos don’t show all the house, just some of the rooms.

Eufrat enterprising 242I usually shoot each model in a different house.  That’s the Torrid Art way.  Using different locations  adds production value to the galleries, as well as variety and interest.  It allows me to match model, wardrobe, hair, makeup and location.  But with those benefits comes a price.  Using a different location every time presents a great deal of challenges for me.  For example, there may be space limitations, poor furniture choices, very little furniture or bad wall colors that make shooting and lighting the sets difficult.  There may also be a mismatch between location and wardrobe.  And the photos I see of the house might not show the interior well enough for me to be prepared for the shoot day.

I choose the houses we use based on those few photos I see.  For a given model, there may be several good houses available for that day, and the choice may be a pleasant one.  But sometimes the choices are not so good.   When I photographed Eufrat in September of last year, the selection of houses was meager.  The house we used was ok, but it left a lot to be desired.  Yeah, it left A LOT to be desired!

Eufrat is an experienced, mature model.  Beautiful and strong, she is popular with visitors to Torrid Art.   In spite of the house, my photo session with her was a big success for the visitors to the site.  But it wasn’t what I wanted for a model like Eufrat.  Though her photos are popular, I know they could be much better.

Eufrat enterprising 270What I mean is that artistically my photos from that day leave me wanting more.  I am very pleased with the subject of the photos - Eufrat.  But the background, setting and lighting are, well, not as good as I would like.  The house just was not a good choice for this kind of photography.  The spaces were small, there was almost no furniture, and the walls, floors and woodwork were the same colors throughout.  Less-than-ideal houses like that leave me somewhat uninspired, and affect all aspects of the photos.

As my session with Eufrat ended, I remember thinking that I would like to have another session with her, in a better location.  She is such a great model, she deserves more.  Much more.

Eventually I decided to make that wish happen.  I am very happy to tell you that I have a photo session scheduled for this Friday with Eufrat.  And as you might have guessed, it is in a large and very beautiful house, with space, variety, elegance and charm.  Stay tuned for samples!

Preview: Odette

July 24th, 2011

Our next model to preview is Odette.  Odette brought energy and creativity to her photo session with me.  She is a charming, professional young woman, beautiful and sexy, with a wardrobe to match her spirited personality and the eclectic house where I photographed her.
