Dear friends of Torrid Art,

Hi everyone. Ryder here. These are difficult economic times. People are loosing their jobs. Investments and retirement accounts are shrinking. People are nervous about spending money.

In response to the world-wide economic turmoil, the Torrid Art "Stimulus Package" has been invented as an affordable way for members to get stimulated. The Stimulus Package is a 7-day, full-access membership for the reduced rate of about $10 USD. The exact price depends on your currency.

But if your are like me, nervous about spending any money right now, this newsletter is the next best thing to a full membership.

So get stimulated!

New model - Jana C at the fireplace
103 photos

Jana C (pronounced Yana) is a native of Prague, Czech Republic, where she lives. Her wardrobe reflects the beautiful, ornate, flowing culture of her home.

I would have preferred a more baroque location for Jana C, but as my assistant is fond of saying, no one is looking at the background. Well, that is not entirely true, but it's a good point!

New photo set - Sochee in a red dress
108 photos

Sochee and I love working with each other. She puts a lot of emotion into her poses, which, among other, obvious things explains why I love working with her. But why does she like working with me so much? I don't know; I guess I get lucky sometimes!

This gallery was shot outside with mostly natural light. I added some fill light from a studio strobe, which adds a catchlight to Sochee's eyes. The stippled sunlight filtering through the roof of the little patio adds warmth and interest. I particularly like the sunlight hitting the clay patio tiles in front of Sochee. That adds some very warm, subtle light from below, and I believe that is one of the secrets to lighting Sochee, but I can't explain why!

The Blog of Bryan Borra
On November 4, California voted to remove the right of same-sex couples to marry. In his blog, Bryan has been "discussing" the shocking and troubling erosion of minority rights in California. This is the first time Bryan has gone political, but he does so with his usual sexual insight, comedy and upbeat flare.

Torrid Art - Not the biggest, not the "best on the web"
Torrid Art is the hand-crafted website of one photographer and one author. We are not big. We don't update every day. We don't have the "best on the web" of anything. We just have some really good, original stuff.
